Example: A Report from More Than One System

A client's full picture is usually spread across several tools, so this example shows you how to build one Report that gets data from more than one connected system.

The scenario

You want a monthly review for a client that shows the open tickets from your PSA, the backup status from Acronis, and the endpoint coverage from SentinelOne. This example puts all three on one Page, so the client sees the whole month at a glance. Give each system its own Page instead when a section needs more room than a third of a Page, or when the client reads the sections at different times. See Pages.

An example of a client Report with a PSA ticket section, an SLA section, an Acronis backup status section, and a SentinelOne endpoint security section on one page.
The delivered Report: one page with data from three connected systems.

The procedure

  1. Make one Data Source for each system. See Data Sources. Make one for your PSA, for example the open tickets by status. Make one for Acronis, for example the results of the backup tasks. Make one for SentinelOne, for example the status of the agents and the devices. The configuration is the same for each tool: give a description of the data in plain English, or copy the endpoint into the field.
  2. Build one Visualization from each Data Source. See Build a Visualization. Make each Data Source into its own chart. They are independent and don't need a relation to each other.
  3. Put all three Visualizations on one Report page. See How to combine more than one system in one Report. Add the three Visualization Blocks to the same Report, then arrange them on the page.
  4. Run the Report for each client. One Report is sufficient for every Organization that you run it for. It works the same as a Report with one Data Source. See Run, Schedule, and Deliver Reports. The Report Snapshot of each client shows their own data only: their PSA tickets, their backup results, and their endpoint status, because Deepwell limits the data with their Mapped Organizations. See Organizations and Mapped Organizations.

Why this Report is useful

One chart from one tool gives you one fact. Three charts on one page show you whether a client's coverage is complete: whether their backups are current, whether an EDR agent protects their devices, and whether they have too many open tickets.

Three separate tools hide these problems, but one page shows them clearly. Your account manager then has specific items to discuss at the next call with the client.
